No Glove, No Love....

Anyone who has even perused these pages knows I have a serious love for accessories. My clothes are relatively staid-I own button downs in every colour-but look to my bags, my shoes, jewelry, makeup, hair ornaments and scarves you are likely to find every shade under the rainbow, busy patterns, strange shapes...One place I haven't really begun to tread is gloves,I own one pair of heavy duty winter ones but none for fun. Gloves never really struck me as wardrobe essentials/assets as I just quit biting my nails last year(unpolished stubs seemed a little to inelegant to showcase) and I smoke (making it quite probable I would set my hands on fire). However Glovedup may change all that. Not only are these handmade gloves fingerless(yaaaah for smokers/polish addicts) but they are so elaborate and funky they could elevate a plain white tee to couture levels. Designed by Agent Anonyme (with a name like that of course they're going to be good) Glovedup has gotten a fair amount of press-Vogue Italia, Paris Vogue and of course British Vogue's February Editorial Light and Fantastic, not to mention the recent Heatherette and Diesel runway shows.

There is a bespoke service(you know I love those) which would be a great idea for a special occasion (plain AA dress and custom made mutton bone sleeved gloves sounds like heaven) but there are also a wide array of styles for regular sale. Here are a mix of images but you should go to Glovedup to take a look as they add their S/S 08 line to the website-there are also some interesting experiments with crocheted plastic tiara's in the gallery.

I think you might be my style twin. I own so many button downs it's not even normal and I'm obsessed with getting into gloves for spring [particularly Karl Lagerfeld ones, $250 a pair but totally amazing]

Look forward to reading more :)

Gorgeous. I don't know if I'd be able to carry all of them off though! I'm loving the long gloves that go above the elbow. Very old-Hollywood <3

Oh, and I love your blog!

I wanted a pair of opera length leather gloves to badly to go with this vintage bracelet-sleeved coat I have...I'm still lusting over that thought!

modelizer-button downs are the way to go, a perfect blank canvas.
Shredz & marilyn- get thee to glove land (wouldn't it be fantastic if such a kingdom existed ruled over by the fair and just Lady Opera Glove & Sir Motorcycle-yes I'm kinda stoned off of cough medicine). These are extreme but I think everyone should find some kinda variation, the amount of time it takes to put them on and take them off show you mean business.
